The characters of King and Maxwell are more defined in this book as their association as investigators grows. Intersting play on character names in the book as well.

So unbelievable it turns comical

Story is totally absurd. Get to the point where you are just reading the words to get to the end.

    Hour Game

I have read almost everything that David Baldacci has written, and this is good. However, it does not command the same "stay up 'til dawn" reading urgency as some of his others. Worth reading in his group of books, and it is enjoyable. But it is not the top of his books. You can't always get A+, but it is an A. I am looking formward to his new book released in April, 2010.

    A reviewer

I've read nearly everything by Baldacci and I think the early stuff was as good as it gets. Unfortunately, much of the later ones have been just 'okay'. I still enjoy his writing style and the stories aren't all that bad...they're just not great. It seems like many authors get that way - Cornwell, Grisham, etc. So, I will keep reading Baldacci because they are still enjoyable and I keep hoping he writes a dynamite thriller again someday.

    Somewhat disappointed

I thought the book started out with such promise , then it became to tangled. To many subplots made the main mystery lose its power. I was starting to think I was reading a story based on one of the 1980's bubblegum evening soap operas. The book had great potential.

    Definitely Not Vintage Baldacci!

Baldacci usually grabs you by the collar, yanks you to the edge of your chair and keeps you there turning pages as fast as you can! Not this time. It is not his usual fare. Too many characters, too difficult to keep track of them while the story line drags too many times, sometimes to the point of boredom. I have read all of his books. Mr. Baldacci is much better than this book would have you believe. I almost get the feeling that an inexperienced ghost writer stepped in for him on this one

    Slow Starter

Book took too long to get going. I did find the last 75 or so pages to be quite enjoyable. Not sure why it took so long. Too much confusion as to who did what with not many clues. For my taste there were too many characters. The first 300 or so pages I found it difficult to read while the last 75 I could not put it down.

    Fell short of Expectations

Found it plodding at times. I was impatient to get to the end and learn the identity of the real killer. Then too, I felt a let down.
