What a Difference This Book Has Made in My Life!
Sandra's way of taking all the clutter that resides in our minds and souls and breaking it down into bite sized pieces is amazing! After all, what is the very best way to eat an elephant? One bite at a time!

I have learned to let go of what isn't mine. That was the biggest thing for me. I oftentimes feel like everybody's mamma, and I tend to carry all the baggage, even if it doesn't belong to me, which is a terrible habit! Housekeeping has taught me how to let go of baggage that isn't mine, guilt that I shouldn't be hanging onto, and this process has really helped me with my perspective on everything!
Thank you, Sandra, for such an informative and easy to read book! :) -

Author: Sandra Carrington-Smith
Publisher: O Books
ISBN: 978-1-84694-281-5
Imagine your emotional life and well being as a house, your home. That's the fascinating premise of this book, and it introduces us to a writer with much talent and insight.
We've all passed houses in well-kept neighborhoods that just didn't fit in. Maybe the unmowed lawn got your attention, or curtainless and dirty windows, or maybe just a general state of sadness or disrepair. Perhaps you've noticed the reverse....a home or two in a generally blighted and neglected neighborhood that stands out because of the flower bed in front, or the cleanly swept porch with a rocker, or a welcoming wreath on the front door. You just know that the people in these homes, be they the good or bad, have a different outlook on life and living than the rest of the neighborhood's residences.
One day, you realize that something has thrown your life out of balance. You've succumbed to that culture of chaos so prevalent today. Carrington-Smith has written possibly the most definitive handbook on moving your emotional wellbeing back into balance. Step by step, you will get everything you need, be it how to, self help or spiritual guidance. Consider it seasonal housekeeping for the soul.
The author has written the book in sections and chapters dealing with specific issues that may be a problem for the reader. The exercises are created in a way that allows you to work through each at your own pace. Given the fact that some may be more intense or difficult depending on your situation, this is a book to take slowly and with an open mind. Topics covered include the fear of change, mental clutter, problem avoidance, exploring relationships, moving beyond past experience and mistakes and more. Excellent points are raised, and it's an extremely thought provoking work. Affirmations and famous quotes are thoughtfully selected. I found the author's personal reflections and honesty to be most refreshing. This is a well written and practical book that can help anyone move towards a simpler, more balanced and peaceful life. -

A Good Read
For those of you who have not met Sandra, you have truly missed an enjoyable experience with a genuine person of good will and integrity. Her book, Housekeeping for the Soul, focuses on the need to take a serious look at our inner self. For those who do not take kindly to harsh religious perspectives, this book offers a unique opportunity to discover our spiritual nature without all the baggage and judgment that may come from a fundamentalist view of spirituality. Spirituality, in its simplest essence, does not always have to include religion. The spiritual side of our nature includes the emotion, passions, longing for value and acceptance and the inner strength that allows us to continue striving to succeed in our daily lives. As this book so eloquently discloses, this spiritual side also includes fears of the unknown and the resistance to change that we all may face at various points in our lives. Sandra encourages the reader to face these fears when one realizes that the status-quo is no longer constructive. Sandra uses sound wisdom and insight wrapped in examples from everyday life that each of us can relate to in one way or another. She offers universal truth that is inherent in both religious and psychological perspectives. She challenges the reader's thinking and encourages them to make the changes necessary to have a more fulfilling life. This life stems from discovering the difference between chaos and serenity, order and disorder, cognitive dissonance and consonance.

At the conclusion of each chapter, Sandra offers the reader a glimpse of her unique perspective and practice of spirituality. Even if one may not agree with this perspective, it is still valuable as a resource in understanding other approaches to that universal healing that is available for all. I am not going to tell you what this perspective is; you MUST read the book for yourself. So are you curious? Are you ready to look into your closets, attics, rooms and garages? Are you ready to be challenged? This book is the one for you. It is worth the price.

Housekeeping for the Soul: A Practical Guide to Restoring Your Inner Sanctuary
This is Sandra Carrington-Smith's first book to my knowledge. I couldn't put this book down. It is a concise little jewel. Told in the voice of a wise woman in beautiful allegory, with poignant autobiography and inspirational narrative woven in, "Housekeeping for the Soul: A Practical Guide to Restoring Your Inner Sanctuary" will change you. The way you view your home and your soul has the opportunity to be totally renovated if you follow Carrington-Smith's sage advice. I grew to eagerly anticipate the gems of wisdom at the end of each chapter wherein Carrington-Smith uses the holistic healing knowledge of Voudou and the Orishas/Lwa's/Goddesses to crystallize the lessons of the chapter. I highly recommend this book, especially if you wish to renew your soul's house. Now, you may not have ever thought about renewing your soul's house but trust me, after reading this book you'll be glad you did.
