I read this in 1 day. But I want my HEA already.. The jealously from the Ashly character was too drawn out. I had little patience with Brian making his appearance. That being said I just bought book 3 because the HEA should be AwesomeWas this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

The second book in Jax Garren’s Tales of the Underlight Series brings us back together with Hauk & Jolie pretending that there is nothing more between them then friendship. Just when things look like they are finally going to go right for Hauk & Jolie in walks Hauk’s old high school flame. But the real question is who is this old girlfriend and what does she really want with Hauk.
Oh my goodness these two are killing me. I just wanted to grab them throw them into a room and lock the door. Hauk & Jolie are perfect for eachother and I so can’t wait to see what Jax has in store for them in the next book in this series. This was another great story from Jax.
I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. This review is my own opinion and not a paid review.

Jax Garren seamlessly pulls readers back into her action packed Tales of the Underlight world. The sequel installment to How Beauty Met the Beast is longer and lovelier with dances around Hauk and Jolie's relationship, a deeper look into Hauk's past, and the inevitable surprising plot twist. Was this review helpful? Hauk and Jolie's connection to one another is as strong as ever. How Beauty Saved the Beast opens with a very good example of how much closer Hauk and Jolie have become, and how well they've gotten to know each other. I actually liked their dancing around an official relationship because it added a touch of romantic suspense on top of the suspense of not knowing what trouble would befall the Austin Underlight. When Hauk's ex-girlfriend, Ashley, comes into the picture she not only creates tension and jealousy between the two, but gives them both a reason to evaluate their feelings. The introduction of this new character served multiple purposes: showing that there's much more to the Order of Ananke than previously thought, widening our perspective of their goals and resources and giving us the chance to learn more details about Hauk's past.
The romance is as hot and spicy as ever, but what really made my jaws drop in this installment was the surprising revelations about Hauk. While he continues to deny the existence of magic and mysticism in his world, he can't deny the uncontrollable rages that he experiences when his Jolie is threatened. The source of this mysterious affliction is unknown, until Hauk is put in a position that means the forfeiting the lives of his friends or the lives of his enemies. I already expected that the Tales of Underlight would, little by little, reveal more beneath the surface of what Jax has already shared, but never did I expect the expertly woven ties to Norse mythology.
The Tales of the Underlight is a series to read! Both How Beauty Met the Beast and How Beauty Saved the Beast are highly entertaining fantasy reads with a kick of romance and action that gets stronger and stronger!

The story picks up 2 months after How Beauty Met the Beast. Jolie's joined the Underlight and Hauk is training her to handle herself in the field. They are still in the friend territory but there is still that spark there between the two. However, Jolie feels threatened when Hauk's ex transfers to their location. It's obvious that these two were really close and Hauk seems really excited to have Ashley around. But there's not much time for Jolie to stress about it too much because the enemy has set their sites on capturing Hauk. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. When it comes to a series, I generally love the first book and then lose interest as the series continues. But I wound up liking this one MORE than the first book. I loved the sexual tension between Jolie and Hauk. I loved how close that they'd become in the 2 months time since we last saw them. And I LOVE that we finally get answers as to why Hauk blacks out and goes crazy when he's fighting.
The magical world that Jax creates is awesome. I love how her hero is not this drop dead gorgeous guy but yet has the biggest heart and by far the best character of everyone combined.
"He was a behemoth of a man with scars striping and pockmarking most of his body - he'd been in a fire in Afghanistan that had destroyed more than three-quarters of his skin-and had reclaimed his damaged exterior with tribal tattoos and metal piercings."
This is an amazing continuation of the story. You can't just jump into the storyline with this one though. You've got to start from the beginning otherwise you may be a bit lost with somethings that takes place. But if you're a huge fan of paranormal romance with an urban twist, this is a MUST. I mean you get magic, burlesque, transgenders, a wounded hero and a mythical mystery all wrapped into one awesome romance. I can't wait to see where Jax takes this story next but I'll be impatiently waiting for the next book to come out.

I am so happy that they are finally getting their stuff together
I am so happy that they are finally getting their stuff together! Well, sort of. Jolie and Hauk are attracted to one another and they finally start to realize it! But this book is more than your typical beauty falls for the beast. This book starts off with an explosion, and grabs your attention from that moment forward. Throw in a past love of Hauk’s and you have one feisty Jolie. I will state that there are some moments when I was a little confused because the magic and mythological elements aren’t explained very well, but you tend to get the jist of it. I also found myself forgetting who some people were, but after a while I began to remember, however it was a little confusing until then. I have to admit that like Jolie I have completely forgotten about how Hauk “looks” and have simply fallen for him, even when he is ‘beasted’ out and carrying her home. There are some aspects of Jolie that I still don’t like. Although she doesn’t seem to care about her wealthy background is has unknowingly affected her, and she sometimes tends to act like a brat. There is also a take-charge attitude that she has gained in this novel that I found I really liked as a development. I also liked the fact that Jolie was more of the hero is this novel. Girl-power…what can I say? But, I do also miss the type of action that we had from Hauk in the first novel. It’s going to be very interesting to see how these two form a relationship in the world and circumstances that they live in.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Hauk—in my opinion…sexy.
Jolie—She is changing and becoming more of a tough woman that is willing to take what she wants.
Some moments and some parts were a little confusing. Science Fiction is not generally my genre of reading so when I read about being brain-washed via a tattoo I get a little sceptical. There also some things, like how Hauk had the tattoo prior to the fire, that I didn’t really understand. Like how he got it. That kind of stuff. It almost felt like it was added in to help explain instead of being apart of the overall plot.
Overall (Writing style, story line, and general):
Overall I find the series is coming along very well. I like the chemistry between the characters, and how to plot is starting to develop. I found that it was fairly easy to follow, although sometimes I did have to re-read parks to make sure I understood. I had some confusion about the characters and generally when starting a new novel in a series authors give a short re-cap, which would have been helpful. The story line got a little confusing in this novel, but it feels like its developing and hopefully more will be revealed in the next book. Jax Garren takes you on a romantic, girl-power filled adventure in How Beauty Saved the Beast that leaves you with the promise of something so much more wonderful in the next book

Wesley Haukon, Hauk, is her trainer. An ex-military sergeant, Hauk was badly disfigured by fire. The circumstances around the accident that killed his squad and destroyed his appearance are questionable at best, but Hauk has been tried and found guilty for the death and murder of his squad and is now hiding in the Underlight.
Hauk and Jolie have some serious communication issues but one thing is for certain, the sexual attraction between them is combustible. Hauk wants to protect Jolie from any harm and Jolie just wants to be one of the team.
The Ananke is once again after Hauk and Jolie must rely on her inner strength and new found friendships to save her friend.
There is just something about Jax Garren’s writing the pulls me in. I get completely riveted to her story telling. The twist on Beauty and the Beast and not what you would expect and I am definitely thrilled with her adaptation. Jolie is from a rich family, who has deep ties in the Ananke’s ranks. Hauk is from a poorer upbringing, with an mysterious super human ability. I loved watching these two wonderful characters develop and their relationship grow. Now that I’ve read 2 books in this series its official, I’m a full fledge fan!
