    A reviewer

Personally I loved this book for many different reasons. Dr. Groopman is dead on with many of the things that he put in this book. His writing is excellent too. He is able to relate it to your life in every way so that you understand what he is saying. He does this by using peoples own personal stories of medical triumphs and tribulations. He also includes intake from other doctors. I have learned many things from this book and I hope to carry it with me through my life and as a future pediatritan it is great knowledge that I will need. Not only is this book good for doctors to read and many of them need too but it is also good for patients as well. From doing things that are stated in this book you can help yourself to greater health care just by knowing how a doctor thinks and communicates. It helps you to know what areas that particular doctor is lacking in so that you can help them and in return help yourself. All around a wonderful book!

    The Patient understands

As a patient I now have an understanding of what is happening when I visit my doctor with my latest problems. This was a good learning experience for me and one I am sure all patients would appreciate what Dr. Groopman has to share. The issues of how the drug industry operates is information that I suspected but now confirmed by this book.

    Important and well written

Groopman has delved into an area that many people are affected by but few take the time to think about-the way doctors come to the conclusions they make every day. He takes a truly unbiased approach in his undertaking of the subject and incorporates examples in a way that makes reading his work a pleasure. I came away from this book thinking differently about the way I think, about the very nature of accepted medical advice, and about the interplay of the forces we all encounter in the American medical system. Groopman's willingness to follow the data without bias or an agenda is refreshing and makes for enjoyable reading.

They Hold Your Life in Their Hands

The fact is that at sometime in our lives one of the strongest relationships we will have will be with a doctor or several doctors. As our society ages, we will all be in their hands - unless we die suddenly as people did decades ago in large numbers. This book is a great look at how the people who will shape our lives actually think in different circumstances. It is definitely worth reading. Sooner or later it becomes 'Your Doctor and You!' Frank Scoblete: author of Golden Touch Dice Control Revolution! and Golden Touch Blackjack Revolution!
