    Snippets with minimal explanation

If you're looking for a thorough explanation of how things work, look elsewhere. It includes only a few random technical statements about any particular thing, but fails give an explanation. It makes the reader wonder whether the authors really understand how things work. e.g. "...a blastpipe aids the extra steam generated by feeding exhaust steam ... into a smokebox beneath its chimney; this boosted the intensity at which air was drawn through..." How? How does feeding exhaust steam into a smokebox boost the intensity of drawing air?

Very good for what it is

This magazine is NOT meant to make you an expert on any field. it is to give you a good brief/medium introduction to a ton of different topics to spark your interest. There are so many things I have often wondered how they work but never had the time to really bother to find it. Now with this magazine I am really satisfying that itch. It annoys the heck out of my fiance as I am constantly spouting off new facts about various things.

I also like the sheer volume of facts. Assuming you can retain them, it does make you a bit more knowledgable across the spectrum and at the very least you can understand the basic concepts of someone that specializes in that area.

This is suitable for most ages. I would say 12+ with exceptions for younger kids that really have a passion to learn.

Often times I find a topic really interesting and do further research elsewhere to satisfy more of my curiosity.

Only downsides is if you buy this for a loved one you might just bombarded by a lot of random facts that you may or may not care about. Brace yourself, the facts are coming.
