an absolute must
this collection of short stories is breathtakingly well written. several of the pieces can be held up as an example of a nearly perfect classic short fiction story.

Dave should stick to novels, maybe he loves writing short stories, but I don't like reading them.
Dave is a great story teller, whether it's about his own life, or a fictitious character like Hand. After reading this book and a similar one by Yann Martell, I decided I don't like short stories. They don't give me enough time to get to know characters. And they end abruptly, as if to give the sense of some real deep message, but I realize there isn't one there.
