A "Real Guy" might want to save his money.

Written in the vein of the "Worst Case Scenario Survival Guides", this book purports to teach the things a "Real Guy" should know. I purchased it hoping to have a few laughs and maybe pick up a few pointers on things my Dad never got around to teaching me.

If you think "shotgunning" a beer is what a real guy needs to know (but you haven't yet been able to get anyone to show you how to do it), this book is for you. If you haven't already figured out that treating a cop who pulls you over with a little respect might make things easier on you, then this book is for you. if you find great humor in the idea that someone wrote a book about how to do those things, this book is for you.

Most of the advice given is so abbreviated as to be useless. The book uses slightly over 2 of its small pages to teach home electrical wiring. Much of the advice is so oversimplified as to be dangerous or destructive.

The attempts at humor in this book did not work for me. The frat-boy tone of the anecdotes and jokes is to me the antithesis of what a "Real Guy" should be.

As for the "How-To" advice, I'm not sure that in the internet age, a book like this has any great value. Wikipedia, e-how and the like will give you much better instruction, for free. And if you're stuck in the woods with no internet connection and only this book as your guide, you're in real trouble.

I'm not sure I got anything of value from this offering, but
