Excellent Comprehensive book for budget brides!
I have to be honest, I've always envisioned a multi-million dollar wedding complete with doves placing the ring on my finger and riding a white unicorn into the sunset. So when my parents told me that they were only going to be contributing a portion of that to my wedding I was less than thrilled. So I began my hunt for the perfect book to help me plan my budget wedding. This book helped me to realize that I wasn't going to have to settle, and that I too could have a fabulous wedding (although giving up the unicorn was hard ;) ). Sharon Naylor gives brides a ton of advice on how to save money while still managing to incorporate parts of the dream. She starts off with ten rules to plan a budget wedding, two of which were very good for me to hear. Don't compare and don't cheat yourself. After reading this book I was able to see my wedding from a different perspective and have grown to love all of my "budget" ideas. I'm thoroughly looking forward making all the favors with the girls from work over wine and gossip and having my grandmother, mother, sister, aunt, and cousins help me tie all the ribbons on to the invitations. The palace ballroom is starting to look tacky and cliche next to intimate garden party we have planned. And my good friend (who volunteered to be my wedding coordinator as her wedding present) is using her connections to get her chef friend to cater for half the cost! I highly recommend this book if not only for the ideas and advice but for the assurance that even though there won't be diamond encrusted roses and cake it still will be an amazingly fabulous day!
