Exactly what I was looking for
"How to Live Your Dream of Volunteering Overseas", is an amazing reference book for anyone who is interested in traveling abroad and even for those who are seasoned volunteer travelers. This book answered every question I had about volunteering abroad and things I hadn't thought of. The authors tell about themselves, their research, and the work they have done in the beginning, then allow you to examine your motivations for wanting to volunteer. They assess if they are the right motivations through self-assessments, if they are not the right motivations they recommend and explain other types of travel. They end with a thorough and organized index of volunteer organizations they have researched and allow you to choose by category. It's a great book by several very experienced overseas volunteers. I recommend it to anyone who is curious and/or serious about volunteering abroad. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

This book not only provides a good list of programs that are available, with descriptions of each, but the whole front of the book provides exercises to help think through what kind of program would work best for you, and is really a great resource for understanding what your motivators are for doing volunteer work abroad and if it is the right fit for you. I highly recommend this to anyone who is thinking about doing volunteer work overseas. It's a great starting point. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. This Book is a Treasure
This book is a treasure. It is a good book for anyone in the age group of about 18-75 of any ethnicity, religion and socio-economic background. It addresses safety, among other issues, for women travelers. This book includes more than information one could find on the Internet about particular opportunities and organizations in any region of the world. It includes in depth studies as well as information for the person considering volunteering overseas to examine his/her motivations and come up with criteria to apply to choosing an organization as well as a location. In addition, this book discusses issues surrounding language barriers and how to overcome the obstacles as well as use the volunteer opportunity to become fluent in another language. This book makes a wonderful gift. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
