If you love Julia Quinn you'll love this one too!

I've read all of Julia Quinn's books and enjoy them all! This one doesn't fail you! It's a fast read with humor and romance. I just wish the lead up to the ending was a bit different! But overall good story!

    I love all stories quinn

While this story isnt as exciting as catching an heiress i still love it this story shows a different side to james that you dont see in the previous book its a cute story i just think that he was different in the other book i really liked him. in this book he just doesnt live upto the glimpse you get of in the previous he i guess just turns into everyother main hero. There was something reckless and charming i had hoped his pursuit would be more exciting and while shes cute patient responsible and all that shw could have been a little more

A Classic!!! where's the disney remake???

I LOVED this book. From the first chapter, it was just wonderful. The paceing was excellent, and as I was reading it, I kept thinking,"wow, this is such a classic. I can see a animated movie with the disney logo already". Aside from the more mature themes of the book (namely the love-making and the almost rape by a drunk), It was a funny, flirty, fantastic journey. The characters were instantly welcomed by me, and by the end of the book, I had come to favor them above alot of other characters I've read about in other books. It was just RIGHT. ofcorse it wasn't PERFECT. I did feel it lag in one particular place towards the end, but even then, the plot was good and I look back at it as a minor thing.

The story is about this poor ALMOST 'spinster' who has to take care of her 3 other siblings. She works as a companion of an old countess and one day, while returning some books to the Dutchess' library (after a funny attempt to bore her with bible 'begets' so she could leave work early), the red leather binding of a book catches her eye, and the title disturbs her even more. At first she thought it was a trick by one of her siblings bceause earlier that same day, she was discussing the urgency in which she needed to get herself married off to continue to provide for the family. She reluctantly take the book and on the way home bumps into a man who claims to be 'the new estate manager'. Little does she know, she's just bumped into not only the nephew of her employer, but the subject matter of her stolen book 'How to marry a Marquis'. He is at the estate at his aunts behest to try and use his many years as a spy for the war office to help figure out whos blackmailing her. Initial Elizabeth is suspected of it, but soon Sidwell dispels that notion and finds himself VERY interested in her. After a few stolen kisses and an embarrassing incident which exposes Elizabeth's possession of the book, Sidwell takes up her cause and tells her he will help her nab an acceptable gentleman (which we all know he has no intention to do). Ofcorse she is still oblivious to his true identity and in the process falls in love with him just as much as he has for her. It is widely known fact that Estate Managers do not make very much, and she tries to thwart her feelings for him, all to no avail ofcorse. After a scary encounter with a drunken womanizer, and sidwells heroic rescue of her, she decides she doesnt care if they live penniless, as long as she can be with him. There is a dramatic reveal of his identity, and hurt and embarrassed, elizabeth stubbornly refuses to marry the marquis and its a long stand-off that is cleverly resolved at the hands of the aunt who's more or less orchestrated the meeting and falling in love of her favorite two people in the world (unbeknownst to them). It ends steamy enough to leave a smile on your face.

Elizabeth and Sidwell are the worlds cutest couple =) .... Do yourself a favor and read this book... it is worth it!!!!

    I Also Recommend:

How to Marry a Marquis (with the help of an instruction manual, of course.)

Due to reduced circumstances Elizabeth Hotchkiss must take a job as companion to a curmudgeonly duchess. She comes across a slim volume in the duchess' library entitled, "How to Marry a Marquis" and guiltily borrows it, determined to use it as a how-to book. Since she is the sole supporter of herself and her siblings, she must marry as well as she is able. The duchess hires a new manager for her holdings who has agreed to tutor Elizabeth in the art of ensnaring a man. What follows is great fun and wonderful misunderstandings and misconceptions. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and Ms. Quinn's characters.

Funny and Charming, the most heartfelt romance!

This was the first Julia Quinn book I picked up. I own and have read everyone of her books. Ignore the naysayers, this story is filled with something sweet and innocent. All the characters are great, even the animals have a romp in this book. If you want better rapport and dialogue, and a little less sex, this book is perfect. Besides, Julia Quinn writes ROMANCE, not porn.

    This is an awesome book!

This was the first book I read from Julia Quinn, and it was amazing! I fell in love with it the moment I started to read the first page. I am now a big fan of Julia Quinn, and I will read more of her books. She is a great author! The way that Simon and Elizabeth fell in love was so beautiful. This is a romantic and funny book to read. I love it!

    B O R I N G ! ! !

After reading magnicifcent reviews of this authros' works, I decided to buy one of her best-selling books to see what the fuss was all about. I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED! The story is thin, the heroine's extremely low self-esteem is annoying, and the hero... well, I didn't quite get what he looks like. Also, the love scene comes at the end and is a poor 2 on the steamy scale. In short: MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING.

    Funny, but not her best

While I did find this a funny book and appreciate the fact that Eizabeth is a klutz, it still isn't Julia's best book. Read it to appreciate both her writing style and her humor. Most romances are predictable, but she always throws in some twists that make it interesting and hard to put down.

I THOUGHT THAT LOVE HAD BEEN A BOY...

This book was completely and utterly hilarious. Probably the funniest book I've ever read. I was so into the book that I read it in one night. And, being afraid I'd wake up the entire household laughing, I eventually had to smother myself with my pillow. If you are interested in a romance novel full of love(obviously), intricate and amusing characters, and gut-busting situations READ THIS BOOK!!! I would recommend it to anyone. Even those who don't like romance would enjoy it's comedy. Kudos to Julia Quinn for her fantastic novel. I laughed, I cried, I was part of this book. Thank you Ms.Quinn, and to anyone reading this... You can thank me later for my wonderful recommendation.
