    Excellent history

This book provides a great overview of the Hudson Valley's history. The content merits five stars, but I must dock one from the Nook version due to its terrible formating. There are way too many typographical errors, and no illustrations to boot.

    More than a textbook

I bought this book for a college class I was taking on the history of the Hudson River Valley, but I would recommend it to anyone who likes to read about history, and is especially interested in early American history. It covers every aspect of the Hudson River's history, and is written in an engaging and easy manner. Last year, if you lived in New York, you couldn't avoid hearing about the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson sailing into our waters, so if your interest was piqued then, this could be your book to read now. You will learn everything from the physical properties of the Hudson River to its role in the environmental movement to the stories of the writers and artists who have lived and worked along its shores. A good read for the person who likes their material factual.

History of the Hudson provides the importance to the survival of a new continent and strategic importance of forming the United States of America.

I recommend this book for anyone interested in American History and why it played such an important role in commerce and encourging western expansion.
