A Waste of Money
This book is short, superficial and an excellent warning to do a little research before purchasing. I will say it might be a good book for people who don't like to read very much. You get through Bogie's life and career in record time.
I was away from my computer and was anxious to start something new, so I took a flier based only on what I'd read through my Nook search. It wasn't enough. After reading Stefan Kanfer's excellent bio on Brando, I was in the mood for a little more Hollywood and what could be better than Bogie? I was a little overconfident.
When the book downloaded, it came in at a whopping 80 pages. It was so short, that I figured it didn't fully download. Turns out, it's all there. The book in paper form is only about 140 pages, which I would have seen immediately if I'd picked it up in a book store. Basically, it's about a quarter of a book for the price of a real one.
All in all, it touches on most of the things a reader would be interested in, but does it so superficially it seems more like a trailer to a movie than the movie itself. It's left me wanting to get a real Bogart biography.
