One of Wilbur Smith 1st not about the South Africans

A reprint, this book was first issued in 1978! BUT WORTH IT. I have read this book 10 or more times. Always in one sitting. The first half is action orientated. The second solving the "mystery". A really good read even after moe than 30 years.

    One of Smith's BEST

This is one of the most exciting novels I've read. I was totally gripped right from the beginning. I also believe this to be one the most underrated novels of Wilbur Smith's. I've read a couple more of his novels and this is by far my most favorite.

    Just a good read!

This was the first Wilbur Smith book I read on the recommendation of a friend almost 25 years ago. Have read it again since, and have thoroughly enjoyed Mr Smiths' other books. You can't go wrong with this one, will keep you turning pages to find out what happens next.

    Terrific Read !

I thought this was off the path for Wilbur Smith, but I think he really can write about anything. It's a strong and interesting story centered around a salvage tug and her owner, but as usual with Smith, there are lots of turns in the story and you won't want it to end. And speaking of, that was the only critique I have, that it ended too predictably and early. It would have been better to have the protagonist survive and face the music for his actions and hear that out. I also had to consult some maritime friends of mine to check out some facts and Smith is on the mark, making the story all the more interesting since this was uncharted ground for me. All-in-all it's a terrific read !

This book would make a great movie,it has all the ingredients,love,hate,adventure,revenge.etc.Also it is a book that most men would enjoy.Wilbur Smith doesn't need to take the back seat from none of present day writers.
