I Ain't a Critic, Lady. I'm a Fan.
John Kruk's book is thoroughly entertaining. I read it when it first came out, in 94 or 95, I believe. I'd always been a fan, I love the way he played the game, and he's so damn honest about everything he does, you can't help but like him...that's why he's so good on Baseball Tonight - his honesty. And it doesn't hurt that he's also an expert, tho I doubt he'd use that word to describe himself. He was always an excellent hitter but I must admit, I enjoyed his All-Star at bat against Randy Johnson a whole lot more than John did. You don't have to be a Phillies' fan to like the book. If you enjoy baseball stories, you'll enjoy this book by one of baseball's best story tellers.

A Pretty Good Philly Book
Growing up in rural PA, the Phillies were everyone's team, even me. I remember my brother picking Kruk as his favorite. I found this book at a library book sale and decided to read it even though I root for the Braves now. Kruk's insight to the game was hilarious and the book was great from the first page to the last. Reading about all those guys I grew up watching, from Dutch to Murphy was great. I highly recommend this book to any Phillies' fans and those that watched and remembered the 93 Phillies will have a good read.
