This book is a great compilation of stories from real people, many of them well known, who have gone through terrible hardships in their lives ranging from being fired to being sexually assaulted, and addiction to divorce. The stories tell of how these people were able to rise above these setbacks once they realized that they had to give their lives over to God. HE is first, we are second.

This book is for everyone becasue everyone goes through hard times in this life. I am a teacher and my students, some as young as 11 and 12, have been able to find a person or a story that they can relate to. I LOVE THIS BOOK!

I Am Second, by Dave Sterrett and Doug Bender
The book tells several stories of anonymous and famous that at some point in their lives found themselves in despair for different reasons. They realized that it was happening because they worship things or put other people in first place in their lives. The I Am Second movement advocates that put God first and yourself second and then for all rest be less important, the story is poignant. One of them is the Brazilian MMA fighter Vitor Belfort, who went through many difficulties and today is one of the most successful fighters in the world.
The book has a wonderful hardback edition with sleeve and inside photos of the characters, people who give their testimonies to the book, and even a sticker of the movement, and information for those who want to participate. It is an inspiring reading, not only by religion but by force of will of the people to overcome life's obstacles.

This is a compilation of stories of people who came to know deep

This is a compilation of stories of people who came to know deep brokenness and at the end of that, the redeeming power of Christ's love. The one red thread you can see throughout all these stories is the search for life’s true meaning and the satisfaction that every one of them couldn’t find in anything other than Jesus.

What I enjoyed most about this book was the brokenness that flowed out of every story, the raw emotions and thoughts that everyone shared, the reality of these experiences. It is an easy read and I liked the way it is organized, with pictures so you can put a face on the person who you just came to know. There is also a youtube channel that incorporates all the videos with people’s stories not only the ones that appear in this book, this gives a different touch to the stories.

Even though I enjoyed the book I guess I was disappointed in the fact that the stories were a bit short, like I said it is an easy read. I think I would have liked it more if the stories would have been more detailed. Even though I understand the fact that it would have been tough considering that these are not just stories, but real life experiences, nonetheless I think there would have been much more potential focusing a little bit more on the stories.
