This book is very thought provoking. A whole new way of thinking about your church membership. I realized I have been taking my church membership for granted, complaining about what my church is or is not doing in general and for me in particular. His 6 points complete with Biblical backup, have shown me that my attitude is wrong. Church membership is a priviledge and we need to treat it as such.
It is a short read (78 pages), but one you will reread again and again.

The book has many gaps in that it fails to address the positive contributions that church members can contribute as singles and lacks examples of the many important roles that members can fill in short term service. The frequent analogy of country club and church memberships sends a message to middle class and poor that this book is for rich people. Nothing is addressed related to sharing needs or receiving help appropriately. How can members serve unless there is a mechanism of sharing one's needs? The book provides a very narrow view of church membership. A comprehensive title such as this should result in a comprehensive book on the subject.

    Very convicting

This book caused me to re-evaluate how I look at my church family. If it really is a family then I must sacrifice everything I hold dear for my family. I was humbled and convicted by my selfish attitude.
