A totally wonderful read
I have loved Isaac Asimov books since I read "Pebble in The Sky" Years ago. Then I read the Foundation Books and was hooked. When my husband got me my Nook..he said I could choose a book to buy to figure out how to use the system. This is the book I bought and I love it. He writes like he is talking to an old friend. Conversationally, and in an amusing and at times incredibly touching manner. It is amazing how much this man wrote and Science Fiction is a small part.
This book also covers the history of Science fiction through the great Authors Asimov knew and spent time with.
I would say this is a must read for anyone who has read his work and a book to be read again...with laughter and tears.1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

Simple Yet Gripping
He talks of the most mundane day to day things and I strongly believe that if someone other than he tried to talk of such things, we would have definitely put down the book on the first page itself! His life is simple and yet he is able to talk about his simple life in simple words and yet keep us glued to the book, enjoying every single event or moment he talks of.

If you want to know Asimov...
Asimov's nonfiction is nothing short of spectacular, especially when he's writing on the subject he knows best, his life. Anyone who missed knowing about him while he was alive can capture a glimpse of the man he was, his humor, his intuitive mind, his failures, and his successes. This is a fabulous read by an author who can captivate almost any audience!

Stop what you are doing and read this book
I grew up reading Asimov - every book I could get my hands on. I was never disappointed. There's nothing quite as wonderful as discovering the depth, complexity and brilliance of his amazing brain. To swim in the thoughts of his mind is such an expanding experience. I do believe it actually makes you smarter. I so enjoyed reading Asimov's life as he saw it. It feels as if he is talking directly to YOU. He addressed his readers as "Gentle Reader" and you feel so comfortable in the virtual sofa chair he constructs with mere words. Asimov is his usual candid self even when discussing personal topics that others might shy away from. His deceptively 'simple' style is anything but as he introduces complex ideas. You will like this.

Great Subject Matter...but
A good read marred by horrid typographical errors. Apparently, whoever proofs for B&N or Random House is sadly, not capable of functioning at even a rudimentary level of job performance.

Not only are the errors numerous, they are also repetitive (on some pages the same misspelled/misprinted words occur 3 to 5 times). I would suggest finding a different vendor for your OCR software and hiring someone that is functionally literate to double check the product before it is released.
As it stands now, if it were my company, I would be embarrassed to have something like this on public view. -
