    'Count' on silly FUN!

My name is Kelly Milner Halls and I wrote I BOUGHT A BABY CHICKEN. While it's been called a great counting book, it was written to be deliciously fun (as you'll discover when you read the closing line). BABY CHICKEN was inspired by my family's ever expanding flock of chickens. I bought one chick for each of my daughters and housed them in a rural Colorado coop. My sister bought one for each of her kids, my mother bought a few, my grandmother a few more. But summer's end, we had more than a dozen peeps. And I wouldn't have missed that adventure for the world. I hope you'll buy BABY CHICKEN, curl up with your favorite little reader and laugh. Those giggles are the true measure of BABY CHICKEN's success.

    A delightful children's book!

It all began with one little baby chicken. Kelly Milner Halls¿ new book, ¿I Bought A Baby Chicken,¿ begin with a little girl falling in love with a cute, fuzzy little baby chicken. Soon her entire family gets into the act, with mom, dad, sister and cousins outdoing each other to see who can get the most baby chickens. Even Great-Grandma and Great Grandpa are gathering up chickens to take home. And when the excitement was over, the family has fifty baby chicks of every color and size. Now what are they to do? ¿I Bought A Baby Chicken is a bright and colorful counting book that will be sure to delight children and parents alike. Incorporating counting skills as well as math skills, its fun to see all the different kinds of chicks the silly family gathers up. The charming illustrations by Karen Stormer Brooks make ¿I Bought A Baby Chicken¿ a vivid adventure for the eyes. Kelly Milner Halls is a fulltime freelance writer, who lives in Spokane, Washington. She is the author of ¿Dino-Trekkers: With her first children¿s picture book, Halls was inspired by a true-life event involving her oldest daughter's case of the chickenpox. The girl was so badly stricken with the itchy blisters, she had to miss her 2nd grade class picture. So Halls bought her a baby chicken to cheer her up. By the end of summer, her whole family had 'flocked' to add to the nest. Like the family in the book, the Halls family wound up with more than a dozen 'peeps' in their happy family. So what began with one little baby chicken has resulted in an enchanting story for everyone to enjoy.

An excellent book by an excellent author...

'I Bought A Baby Chicken' is a great book to share with young children - the only problem is, you'll catch yourself having fun reading it as well. This is an outstanding effort from an incredibly talented author.
