I bought this book for my twin grandchildren, a boy and a girl not quite two and a half years old. They don't sit still for many books but they did for this one, asking me to read it "Again!" many times. The text is very simple, but each page can be elaborated on to make the story more involved and to provide for interaction. The pattern has one animal character needing help and getting it from another animal, but then becoming the helper for the next animal. The illustrations show an older family member being very happy to see the younger one's problem being solved. The story teaches some simple facts about nature, as well as the importance of helping those in need and of saying "thank you."Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. A Future Classic
I've been teaching for over 15 years and I know what makes a quality picture book that can teach and entertain children. I Can Help has the humor and heart of a classic with the artwork to back it up. This beginning reader truly is a "charmer" that I'll be using in the classroom for years to come. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
