I expected much more from the editor of Cosmo. The dialogue, at times, is so unrealistic that it's distracting. And what's with Bailey's weird escapades in romance?!? Does any of this really happen in real life? Again, I had this entire book figured out by the midpoint. I won't waste my time on any more books by this author.

    Started strong but disappointing.

I read Kate White's book Till Death do us Part, and i loved it. I picked this one up with high expectations. The plot is good, but the story is mostly repitition throughout. The ending seemed ubrupt and not well thought out. The book rambles on for ages and then suddenly comes to an end. It left me saying 'now what was that?'!!

    I Also Recommend:

    don't bother

I was not impressed with this Kate White book. I read about the book when it first came out and thought it sounded interesting, but it is much too long and boring.
The writing style of Ms. White just doesn't match that of a good mystery writer. The novel was rather predictable and rambled way too much.

If you want a good mystery, try James Lee Burke, Linda Fairstein, Alafair Burke, Michael Connelly, and Lisa Unger.

    BORING

What a boring book...not sure if I'd venture to read any of her other books. The reader on the book-on-tape was one of the worst I have ever listened to.

Kate White is my favorite super sleuth

Since my mother has retired, she has found a love in reading books. I, on the other hand, has never read anything completely through except when I had to. I saw an interview with Kate White on television and decided that I would give it, along with Ms. White's next two books, to Mother if it did not suit me. W-E-L-L-L-L, I read it in record time, barely able to put it down. Felt a let down until I was able to start the next book with Bailey's adventures. I only wish that Ms. White had the 4th book written for me to look forward to.

    Great Weekend Book

I highly recommend the book for a long weekend and/orlong flight! It was short, easy, entertaining, and keeps in you suspense.

This is really her first novel? Nice.

This book was a short but very entertaining read! It kept me guessing til the end at who the killer might be. I like how she explores many different angles to who the murderer could be. And between solving crimes and writing for Gloss she still maintains somewhat of a love life. Very enjoyable!

    A nice escape.

I really enjoyed this book. I felt that Bailey helped me achieve an escape from my every day life! The main character is interesting and easy to relate to. This is a good book and a fun read.

    White debut is plain

I don't know what I expected from a debut novel of a magazine editor, but this was definitely below expectations. The plot isn't entirely original, nor is the ending unpredictable. What got to me most with this books was the ending. It seems like everything just stops. There's no real sense of conclusion. There is a lot of unnecessary diversion earlier in the book that could have been cut to make room for a more satisfying ending. I am interested, though, to see how White will mature as a writer through the second and third books.

    Great mystery

For the writer's first book, it was better than some I've read. Though it did seem kind of long, but kept me in suspense. At times I was unable to put the book down awaiting what would happen to Bailey.

    If Words Could Kill

After reading a review I thought that this book would be spectacular. Well, If words could kill. Too many of them to be exact. This book could have been 200 pages shorter. Too many characters that just take you off into another direction, that has nothing to do with this mystery. It does not make the story more interesting, just pointless. This will not be an author that I would read again.

    A Fantastic Read!!

As someone who usually is not a fan of mystery novels I read this book after seeing the good reviews on it...and was not disappointed! A great book by a great writer, can't wait to get started on her follow up novel.

    I liked it....!

Being a New Yorker, and working in the cosmetic industry, I found it easy to relate to this book..Bailey is such a good character! I hope she is in more of Kate's books....
