Had high hopes for this novel when I bought it, but was throughly disappointed. Only about 50% of this book is alternative history. The balance is an historical run-up to Gettysburg, plus several appendicies on Jomni, Civil War tactics, and the Confederate constitution. Dispite the cover illustration, the alternative history stops very abruptly in the late 1930sin a very disappointing "ending". Thought this would be more detailed Kantor-IF THE SOUTH HAD WON THE CIVIL WAR, but this misses by miles. Giving it two stars--the second for effort. Was this review helpful?
