Imaginary Jesus
Imaginary Jesus by Matt Mikalatos is a hilarious book. A man travels and comes face to face with many fake Jesuses. But what he needs to find is the real Jesus. A funny novel where you'll laugh and read for hours! I recommend this book. A great novel filled with a great plot, great characters, and a great sense of humor!

Hilariously thought provoking!
I have to admit... I hesitated opening this one. The title and cover made me wonder whether it would be "too irreverent". The first chapter had me hooked. I alternately laughed out loud, reflected, and wept while reading this book. Couldn't put it down. Share this one with your Christian book clubs. You won't regret it!

Funny and thought provoking
I downloaded this because it was a free nook book. It turned out to be funnt enough that I laughed out loud a few times. Matt's quest to find the real Jesus invoked a lot of reflection of my own. Great read!

An insightful read
I loved the authors insight in how we may view Jesus but not necessarily the right one. I am urged to continue to find my faith and the one true lord and savior.

Absolutely Love This Book!
Takes apart hypocritical religious attitudes and puts them in prospective in this enjoyable, funny book. Once you read it, you'll NEVER forget all the Imaginary Jesus.

Humorous--makes you think!
A quick simple read that asks --is the Jesus you created and see the true one? Follow Matt has he explores his many imaginary Jesuses and see how he handles the problems they create.

Humorous yet disrespectful
I feel that what this author was trying to do is to get us to look "outside the box" of what we have always been taught or what we have always imagined Jesus to be like. I kept thinking that was a good thing and to some extent I agree with his thoughts, however I couldn't help but feel that the way he went about it in this book was somewhat disrespectful.

Definitely a worth while read, for anyone!
This was a surprisingly great book! It was a free download from B&N for my nook so I didn't know what to expect.
Have you been following the wrong Jesus all your life? In the book "Imaginary Jesus" Matt finds a lot of Imaginary Jesuses, there's "Magic 8 ball Jesus" (People pray to him and wait to see what answer they'll get), "Testosterone Jesus" (the men's retreat speaker), "Perpetually angry Jesus" (some people believe that God is always mad at humanity because the world is full of evil), "Classical Jesus" (honey-colored hair, skin like snow, equine face, blue eyes, white robe, one hand raised as if to knock), "King James Jesus" (he drives a hard bargain. It was centuries before he even allowed New King James Jesus to exist), "Bargain Jesus" (the Jesus who would always answer your prayers...for a price), "Liberal Social Services Jesus" (he thinks the best way to tell people about God is through service, but he never talks about God), and on and on.
"People invent a Jesus for one specific reason and then discard him when they don't need him anymore. "
What kinds of excuses do you come up with not to talk to God -
"You get in the car and turn on the radio. You take a book with you to the bathroom. You listen to your iPod while you do yard work. You watch television while you write on your blog at the same time. When exactly is Jesus suppose to have a conversation with you?"
I thought this book hit the nail right on the head. In a way it was a rude awakening! Definitely a worth while read, for anyone!1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

Very good book (review by an atheist)
Quick read, entertaining story. I read it in one sitting, about 3 hrs. It made me laugh out loud; at times, it brought tears to my eyes. It did not, however, make me a christian. The great thing is, it didn't even seem like it was trying to. It wasn't pushy at all, just a good story with excellent character development. I definitely recommend!

Thought Provoking and Funny in One!
Read this one! And then share it with others! Christians will love it; non-Christians will love it as well. And after you're done, search your heart to figure out what YOUR Jesus might look like.

must read
I too was leary about this book just from the title but was so very pleased with it's content. I could not stop the outbursts of laughter while reading. Easy reading, very enjoyable, stepped on my toes a couple of times but couldn't put it down. Loved it!

Fun book
This was so different. I loved it! It really made me think about my own realationship with Jesus. I kept being afraid of which Jesus was going to be like my Jesus, in case I was also following a fake! Very intriguing!

Gripping. Fast. Entertaining. Amazing.
The title might not sound very Christian, but it is really Christian. I don't go to church and consider myself atheist, and would recommend to anyone who has the ability. It is a great book and If you read it, I'm sure you will recommend it.

Great "christian" book
People should not be fooled by the title and give a low rating without reading it. This book is great, a good mix of humor, spiritual insight, and imagination. I look forward to reading other like it.
