In Plain View by Olivia Newport is the second book in the Valley

In Plain View by Olivia Newport is the second book in the Valley of Choice series. This is a gem of a book. It is actually two storylines in one. The main story takes place in modern times in an Amish community. Annie is a woman trying to live a simple life. She used to live a fast-paced, modern, technologically ridden existence. Now she strives for demut, or humility, as she tries to decide if the Amish life is for her. She is learning more about God and plain living, while her love for a certain Amish man, Rufus, grows stronger every day.

The secondary storyline is based in the time of the American Revolution and involves the ancestors of the modern story's characters. This story revolves around Jacob and Katie and their growing family, as well as Magdalena and her relationship with Nathaniel.

Both of these stories within one book captured my attention and they were both so well developed and well written. I was able to follow everything in this book without needing to read the first one. It can definitely stand alone. Now I am looking forward to reading the third book in the series when it is available.

I received this book for free from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review, which I have given.
