The birth stories in the beginning are warm and empowering however all take place on the farm there are no positive stories from elsewhere. The author then dives into the negatives of obstetrics versus the positives off midwifery... in my case there are no midwives around and it made me feel almost like a prisoner of my options. She then delves into birth how you can do it which i found absolutely worth the read! Then however, she falls back into discussing midwifery..telling us about past midwives an their experiences..i felt compelled to skip pages. I did not for fear of overlooking something useful and was dissappointed. The final chapters talk about our faulty obstetrics again and how we should strive to improve.
Overall this book had 30% information i wanted 30% babble about multiple midwiferies and their statics 30% absolutely horrifing information about obstetrical intervention and why to not go to them 10% amazingly personal stories of strength and how to have faith in your own body
