The best book I ever read and best in the series- great quirky family

WOW! I have read this book five times and I still never tire of it. Indigo is a great character, well balanced with Tom and Rose. It deals with heavier themes (bullies, parents divorce and seperation) with a light touch. Tom has a Steprelations he doesn't like about, Indigo's dad has baisically left the family and Rose is begging him through letters (hilariously) to come home. But don't be fooled! This is not a teen angst novel. Rather it is a book about art, the beauty of words, new friendships and forgiveness.

    I Also Recommend:

    Sequel to Saffy's Angel

If you loved "Saffy's Angel", then you will love the 2nd book in this series! The Casson family is so close, so artistic, so crazy! I really like the family that this series is about! I encourage you to read the series!
Another book that you will like if you like this series is "Sand Dollar Summer". It also has family conflicts and adventure.

    more from this reviewer

Indigo's Star is a story that shines by Hilary McKay

This is the second in a series by Hilary McKay, the first one is Saffey's Angel. These stories are fun to read, the characters unique and attention holding. The use of language in the story telling is fun too; these are not just for children, but anyone who enjoys stories written by an author who enjoys not just story telling, but in using words in new and unique ways to describe episodes within the story. When Caddy is learning to drive in Saffey's Angel, her car appears to jump up vertically and take off suddenly "leaving behind it a small patch of silence." Hilary McKay's stories are fun to read by everyone; Indigo's Star shines jsut as bright as the first in the series. Read Saffey's Angel first and you may be hooked too. I am getting the third one soon.

    not enough action

This book was ok but a little dull and drawn out. I could hardly keep my 13 yr old son interested.

    Fascinating Story

The Cassons are unlike any characters I have ever read about. They are so comical, so real, that they just sweep their readers into the story. Their names are absolutely unique! Who else would think to name their kids after colors? This is a fascinating book and definitely worth reading

    this book is soo awsome!!

when i started reading indigo's star, i knew this book had a lot of twist and turns. this book is so inspiring to me. i really hate the end, but i guess that is what makes this book so special. i always say, a book with a great plot, great characters, a great story and a great ending, is impossible to find, but with this book, i think i found the inpossible!!

    A total bookworm

Indigo's Star is probably the best book i've ever read. It's so cleverly written, and the author really brings you into the story. The cassons are also such complex and interesting characters, that you can't even put the book down. READ IT!!
