I recommend this...very enlightening!
Ingrid: Ingrid Bergman, A Personal Biography tells the life story of actress Ingrid Bergman, from her beginnings in Sweden to her rise to stardom in Hollywood. The book includes details of Ingrid's personal life as well, including her famed affair with director Roberto Rossellini. I enjoyed reading this book. Charlotte Chandler, the author, included a lot of quotes from Ingrid, as well as from her colleagues, friends, and family members. The book felt very personal, as the title suggests. Chandler included a synopsis of each film Ingrid made, and talked about what was happening professionally and personally during that time. The book was informative without being filled with nothing but facts. After reading this biography, I knew a lot more about Ingrid Bergman than what I had previously gathered on my own. I learned about her childhood and her early career in Sweden. I read about her time in Hollywood; about the films she made there and the people with whom she worked. The book provided personal opinions form these people, which helped me form a mental image of the actress as a person. The author's inclusion of both Ingrid's words, and those of others, provided a multitude of viewpoints on events in Ingrid's life.
