    A good overview of crossfit as ive seen it

    Mr murphy gives a good introduction into the phenomena of crossfit without delving to deep into its methodologies. He presents the friendliness and caring of the crossfit community in a reverent amd accurate light. If you've been considering trying crossfit but were to scared. to walk into a box read this first. Make no mistakes crossfit is hard and is not for everyone but once your through the door. it has the potential to change your idea of fitness

    Inside the box is a detailed book considering how CrossFit effects its athletes and how it differs from any other type of fitness training. I used this book as a resource to connect to an ethnography about what CrossFit athletes endure. It provided the information I needed through statistics, graphs and quotes from many different professional athletes that utilize CrossFit in their training. Even how CrossFit was created and the creator himself is credited in this book. It gave me a great understanding of how CrossFit is such a divergent group compared to the average “gym going” athletes and it propelled me to start to try this type of lifestyle to get the most out of my short workout. Anyone that is an athlete or even a person who likes to go to the gym every once in a while should read this in order to gain inspiration to improve and push yourself, even if you do have some physical disability. The author of Inside the Box had to quit his running career because of a damaged knee but, CrossFit changed his life by letting him continue being an active athlete. If you aren’t interesting in expanding your athletic horizon and you want to know more about general fitness, this isn't the book for you, it’s draws the reader into the CrossFit fitness strictly. Although this book compares CrossFit to other types of fitness, it lacks giving credit to other great sport training, it zones in on how CrossFit is the best way to build your athletic ability. I think it needs a little bit more diversity than just explaining CrossFit in too many different ways.  Its a good book to read but I don't think is “movie material” because it would be a very scattered movie, there is a documentary aspect, but the book jumps around the examples and definitions of CrossFit too much. Overall it was helpful to me for my project and it helped motivate me to go to a couple days of CrossFit so far! Its been a great experience.

    This book gives a very good overview of what crossfit is and how it can impact lives. The primary focus of Mr. Murphy’s story is how crossfit can assist people in coming back from career ending injuries and allow him to stay in shape. He talks about his own experience of a major knee injury and to a runner, this is devastating. He was no longer able to run without pain and this was difficult for him to accept but as he started to do crossfit, he could feel himself getting stronger and more powerful. 

    Overall this book gives good insight as to how helpful it can be to continue to stay in shape and how easy it is to get started. I especially like how the book is from the perspective of an injured athlete and his rise to success. It shows that crossfit is not easy to do but as long as you develop the mental strength to push through the adversity, it can be extremely helpful. Mr. Murphy is very assistive in giving a good view on the concept of how hard getting fit can be but once you start to develop the mental toughness, it becomes extremely beneficial.

    I enjoyed the book and purchased a paper copy to losn out to those considering crossfit.

    Great inside look

    Nice to read a book giving information on crossfit. Wish it was a bit longer with more information.
