Buy this book!!!! I've read a lot of parenting books since the birth of my son - ok even before he was born - from attachment parenting to babywise, and human development curricula. Many of them seemed to invoke an anxiety about what I was doing as a parent, e.g. sleep, feeding, schedule or not to schedule, playtime, etc. This is the first book I read that normalized my experience. It took away the anxiety I was feeling, the judgements, and gave me permission to breathe . . . to look at what works for our family and not necessarily the hundreds of conflicting philosophies. I love the practical advice of what the real goal of parenting is and the parental instinct to give food, shelter and love. She uses anecdotal stories that give levity and humor to the whole parenting thing. She also provides references to literary works and research that further exemplify her points and even portray the broad spectrum of advice. I really like her style of writing and really appreciate the many laughs and ah-ha's it gave me. I read it in 2 weeks and told all of my parenting friends about it. I highly recommend this book for any parent - new or experienced. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
