This book sounded a bit different from the usual of vampires and werewolves while still staying in my preferred genre, but it didn't meet my expectations.
The book had an interesting story idea, but it felt a bit rushed to me and would have been a lot better had the book been paced a bit slower to allow the story to develop and the characters to evolve.
The characters were okay, but you don't get to know the fully human Melodie at all, yet Blake still falls in love with her.
And Melodie falls in love with Blake even though she was never fully human, so her feelings for him were mostly lust fueled by the gem locked in her body causing her demonic behavior.
How two people fall in love in a few days when neither is "sober," I shall call it, is beyond me.
Also, the love scenes were severely lacking. They were very boring and had little to them. Had the author not wanted to write an elaborate love scene she would have been better off taking the classy route and describing the emotional part of the act and not the physical. Or just saying it happened and skipped over it.
I did enjoy all the demons in the story though. Fairly imaginative and interesting. The Fremlings were my favorite.
