I am just going to say it.  I loved this book.  The whole idea of "What if your first love really was your one and only, but life got in the way?" made this book rise above so much of the NA out there now.  Charley was heart broken and moved on the best she could after tragedy struck one night and she lost more than just her first love.  Jake was just as heartbroken, but carried more then heart break with them all those years.  When they finally reconnect while studying abroad in Scotland, emotions run high, sparks fly, and old wounds are reopened and explored.  There is something about the way that Samantha writes that just sucks you in and does not let you go even after you have read the last page.  Set in the backdrop of Scotland and filled with wonderful secondary characters, this book stands really stands out in the crowd.

This is book one, so not all the loose ends are tied up in a pretty bow.  In fact, there is much left open.  That being said this was not a cliffhanger and while I really want to know what comes next and hope the series ends with an amazing HEA of all HEAs, I am ok with where it ended.  There is a bonus scene from Jake's point of view at the end that really adds a ton to the book. It is amazing how seeing a little glimpse of what one character thought much earlier in the book really adds depth to the story.  I am so glad it was included.

Into the deep is yet another half book, which isn't mentioned anywhere. The writing is bad and childish, and the flashbacks to high school are too much so that throughout I thought I was reading a book for teenagers. The spelling keeps jumping back and forth between American, British English and spelling mistakes. I wish someone had mentioned that this is yet another one of those books with part 1 out of I don't know how many. Please stop publishing chapter books, or at least be honest about it.

    Ok

Why can't authors write a complete book!? By the time the 2nd book comes out I won't care! Ugh! Frustrating!

    Amonymous

This book just at times seemed very unrealistic! I cannot see sixteen or seventeen year olds carrying on this way! I know I didn't and I was quite mature for my age back then in the 70's. Jake simply blew my mind with his actions and especially to Charley! Teenager or not, way too much drama! And then just stopping the story so abruptly really ticked me off! Not a happy reader here!

    Disappointing

I like this author. I loved Down London Road.... This book was nothing like that with the exception of location. At first I didnt mind the way the story bounced between past and present but it got old fast and the further into the story I got the less I started liking the main characters. Jake seems to be s d-bag for stringing Melissa along and Lowe eas very right saying he wanted to have his cake and eat it too... Which made me grow to really dislike Charley who is supposed to be this smart ass tough girl with a hero complex but won't stand up for herself and resorts to the same thing Jake did by stringing Lowe along.

I have no urge whatsoever to see how this story continues. I do not even understand why there would be a second part to this story
