Introduction to investing
Tyson's book on investing presents useful information and covers just about all of the basic categories. This is a good place to begin learning about various investments. However, the book does not provide sufficiently detailed information for a anyone to become an active participant in some specific investment areas, and additional education is required for them. One serious omission is the lack of coverage about stock options. As a remedy, I recommend either THE SHORT BOOK ON OPTIONS (Wolfinger) or Options as a Strategic Investment (Macmillan).

Good read for the "dummy"
If you want to invest but are not sure what or how...this is a book for you. I knew what stocks, shares and bonds were but I did not know how to research them. This book goes over all the nuances of stocks and bonds. Ever wonder what all the symbols and letters mean that are next to a stock when you look at them in the business section of a newspaper? This book explains that and more. It also gives good advice on how to maximize returns. There are also sections on investing in real estate and small business. I have enough knowledge now that I can go research companies and purchase stocks that will earn returns for years. This book also goes over mutual funds, retirement funds and ETF's. Lots of knowledge to tap here to get started on building a protfolio.

Im very impressed.
'Investing for Dummies' is one of the best investments you can make! I found this book VERY informative, and easy to understand and read. This is an excellent resource for beginners and probably even people with some investing experience. I loved being able to jump straight to the topics I was interested in, and how the author got right to the point! I think EVERYONE should have this book! It's definately a winner......

Good starter book
Great advice for the beginner, very easy to understand and, more importantly, start applying right away. My only gripe is the lack of a worksheet or guide to walk through my individual finances, but there are plenty of those online.

Answers All The Simple Questions
I have been doing investing on and off for 8-9 years. This book has the most easy to understand manner of explaining the most complex things. This book is a must for someone who doesn't have a degree in Finance and has ANY sort of retirement plan. Whether that plan be an IRA, 401k, or any other investment account.

Great Book, Unbiased Factual Information
Even though this book is marketed to serve as a reference, I chose to read it cover-to-cover. It contains page after page of unbiased tips/advice and factual information that absolutely make sense. Tyson is well-educated and writes from his experience advising 'everyday, common people'. This book is written in language that anyone can understand, with all terms and concepts defined and explained very clearly. Tyson includes humor and writes in a light style that makes reading on such a dry topic as painless as possible. If you're serious about learning enough to be able to form your *own* opinion regarding your investing strategy, throw out 'Rich Dad, Richer Author' and buy this book to get your facts straight.

I found this book very useful. Normally when I go online to monitor or change my portfolio I would have this feeling of being overwhelmed and afraid of making a serious mistake. This book has given me that "I can do this" feeling of confidence.
