Pros: Love basic approach to simplicity and learning fundamental

Pros: Love basic approach to simplicity and learning fundamentals in first few chapters.

Cons: Picks up speed after about Chapter 5 and just rolls in a bunch of different directions (still helpful)

"Investing Online for Dummies" is the kind of book you should get if you have recently gotten started in investing and want to build your knowledge about crazy, unpredictable world of the stock market. The author provides a brief overview of things such as how to execute a trade, taxes on capital gains, fees, and building a investment monitoring station. You want find a lot of definite strategies (in other words, picks and recommendations), but you will find some good, solid advice on what to look for when you start the account. As a beginner, you probably won't need a lot of the book, but it is something helpful to keep as a reference.

Great reference for beginners and those looking to get a bit more seriou$

I love "Dummies" books so I am biased to say the least.

Nevertheless, this book provides an effective blend of resources, insights, facts, and useful examples for those looking for a cogent online-investing reference. His use of "(see Chapter X)" maybe a bit liberal but that is typical of books that endeavor to cover a lot of topics while minimizing redundancy. Another positive is that I found myself ear-marking pages regularly throughout my initial read at B&N.

This book effectively uses examples and illustrations to help the reader understand what are sometimes difficult-to-communicate aspects of the market. In addition the author includes many websites that can be used to delve further into certain subjects.
