This is a book for readers who are interested in how educated, worldly, and free-thinking people live their lives in present day Iran. The author reveals her peoples' diversity, cultural connections, struggles with the present day regime, their attitudes about the West, and the uneasy balance of religion and politics. The author is a Nobel Prize winner, lawyer, and a human rights hero in a country where people like her are killed or flee the country. It amazes me that she continues to be a strong voice for human rights in a country whose political machine does everything in its power to make its citizens conform to their ideals. Was this review helpful?
