The One Knitting Book You Must Buy This Year

There is something for everyone in this book. The pictures are a delight, the patterns are seriously-fun to knit.

    I Also Recommend:

    Iris Schreier's best to date!

I've been a fan of MODULAR KNITS and Artyarns. In REVERSIBLE KNITS, Schreier presents patterns for knits with two right sides, divided among six concepts. Although some of the ideas may initially seem daunting, the directions are so clear that any person who can read a knitting pattern can easily read her patterns. However, the book does not simply offer patterns; each othe six concepts is well-explained so the knitter understands what he or she is doing with each stitch.

Because Artyarns yarns tend to be expensive (and so worth every cent), the book includes a chart of suitable yarn substitutions, ranging from inexpensive and available at any craft store, to higher end yarns available only either online or in a local yarn shop.

My only issue with this book is that it is not spiral bound. I believe that all knitting books and music books should be spiral bound. If this book is ever rereleased in softcover, I strongly recommend purchasing it and taking it to an office-supply shop to have a spiral binding inserted.
