The Best of This Series Still Isn't That Great

I think out of the series so far, this would have to be the one that I most enjoyed, but all of my prior criticisms still stand. If you don't know what those are, here's a quick list:

-Black doesn't manage to capture emotion.
-She goes for shock value over substance.
-Her characters are hard to believe.

Holly Black's books are generally mediocre, but they're not terrible to read if there's nothing else lying around.

If there's a sequel coming, I'm certainly not going to make a run for it.

I must say that this just might be the most dissapointing books ever! I liked the first one to a certain extent, but it had a plot to keep you going! This one! First of all it leaves one totally wanting with the 'resolution to the conflict of cross world relationships' Kaye and Robien are never resolved and it seems to me he hates her and everything else around him. I know what she was going for 'evil corrupts', but she totally fell flat, making him seem lifeless and dull. I also hate how in this one Kaye's home life is described! Her grandmother needs some total anger management, and her mother seems like a messed up 12 year old! And finally how much in detail she goes into the whole gay relationship! She doesn't even describe Kaye's relationship with that much detail! If you want to have a gay main character, then do it, but don't spend half the book on the thoughts of a secondary character, which sorry to say is what Corny (name fits) is! PARENTS DO NOT LET YOUR KIDS READ THIS BOOK THE CONTENT AND FOUL LANGUAGE IS ENOUGH TO PUT RATED 'R' TO SHAME!
