He Ain't Called King for Nothin'

This is it, without even the tiniest shadow of a doubt. I've read a lot of books, ranging from classics, like Count Dracula, by Bram Stoker, Tarzan of the Apes by Edgar Rice Burroughs, and a lot of books by S.K. Himself. So far, I haven't come across one I haven't enjoyed on some level. I'm actually rereading it for a second time, and am just shy of page 30, which isn't even a dent in this 1,100-plus-page masterpiece. It's absolutely my favorite piece of litterature I've come across, and I hope, one day, I can come across a more durable first- or second-edition hardcover to replace the spine-tarnished, yellow-paged paperback I have. Long ramble short: It isn't for everybody--if you're looking for a more to-the-point horror story, try out Dean Koontz, who is also great--but if you're a fan of The King, and have't checked this out, I highly recomend it. I recomend, also, that you read this book in a dimly-lit room with no TV or music playing, with the door locked and the windows draped shut, so you can get the full effect.

Great story, frustrating e-book.

I won't bore you with my recap of the plot - the synopsis here is just fine. If you've ever read Stephen King before, you have a pretty good idea whether you'll like this one. In my opinion, IT is not as good as THE STAND, but on par with SALEM'S LOT and leaps and bound...
I won't bore you with my recap of the plot - the synopsis here is just fine. If you've ever read Stephen King before, you have a pretty good idea whether you'll like this one. In my opinion, IT is not as good as THE STAND, but on par with SALEM'S LOT and leaps and bounds better than UNDER THE DOME. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

If I were rating the story alone, I would have given it 5 stars. The e-book, though, gets three stars, because the formatting is absolutely awful... at least as the Nook displays it. Long stretches of text (in some places, close to 2 full pages) are inexplicably italicized. Sometimes, the italics stop just as inexplicably - in the middle of a sentence that's no different in tone or viewpoint than the ones leading up to it. In several places, there is a dangling half-paragraph requiring a page turn to get to the rest of the paragraph (and I'm not talking about the mid-sentence chapter breaks; I know those are correct).

To top it off, there are several spelling errors - "rn" substituted for "m," the numeral "1" for the letter "l," and the like. I believe all of the formatting and typographical errors probably result from a bad scan of a print copy of the book. It needs fixing - it's embarrassing to have such a poor version of such a good book by such a popular author.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book BUT I was extremely disappointed

I thoroughly enjoyed this book BUT I was extremely disappointed at the ending. I am a huge Stephen King fan and have read most of his books, but this was probably the worst ending of a book I ever read.

Wish I could give it 5 stars

But the ending was one of the worst I've ever seen. And I don't just mean what happens after the final showdown, either. The entire last 1/5 of this book seemed like it was completely written by someone else. It did not match with the rest of the story, and disappoinred me so much I ended up throwing the book against a wall :P I really could have loved this book, but the ending ruined it for me.

truly a great book....until the end

Stephen King's IT was what i would consider one of his poorer works. Yes there were parts that had me on the edge of my seat but the book is so long that the plot just starts to get old and boring almost to the point where i stopped reading it. King had some great ideas but i think he could of chopped the size down to about 500 pages at least. And the ending with the giant spider? It ruined the whole book.

The best book and movie ever!

This book was the scariest one yet. It was thrilling, exiting, and frightning. If you liked the book you should watch the movie.

    Horrifyingly Scary Until the End

This was definitely THE scariest I've ever read. The psychological torment that this clown inflicted was beyond any of my wildest nightmares. The only thing: the ending was utterly ridiculous! It felt like Stephen was just tired of the story and wanted to give it a cheesy Hollywood ending, and so he did. The fear left me and I was bored.
