    abstract storytelling with no resolution

Our 2 1/2 year old was terrified to poop. After several months of trying different techniques (psychological and medicinal) someone suggested this book. Willing to try anything, we ordered it.

I was not impressed. The story within a story concept was too abstract for my son. Not sure how picking up ones trash and keeping their house clean equates to not being afraid to poop. Also the book makes a clear connection between eating food & pooping. Which, in our case, was not a connection we wanted made (DS was already eating less and we were afraid he'd stop eating if he knew it lead to pooping). Lastly the little boy goes to the Dr who gives advice (eat food that makes poop soft) and the story ends with the Dr promising to call in a week to see how things are. The boy responds "Okay, but I might be on the potty!" There is NO RESOLUTION. Nowhere in the book did the little boy have a poop that didn't hurt. Nowhere did he feel better after pooping.

We used the pictures but completely changed the wording of the story to better fit our problem. I think we read the book a total of 3 times, it wasn't helpful.

Thankfully we were able to remedy our son's problems, but this book was not part of the solution.

    Highly Recommended

This book helped my daughter understand why she was so scared to go to the bathroom. I have NEVER written a review for a book and was compelled to because this book in connection with the book entitled Where's The Poop? (along with Pedia-lax fiber gummies) was the perfect combination for success. I thought my daughter was not potty trainable - she will soon be 5 years old and still would only poop in a pull-up. Within a week of reading these two books it's as if we have a different child in the house. There is no stress, no crying, no drama. After going to the potty she now shouts from the bathroom that she has a surprise for us! Who would have thought that poop in the potty would be the best surprise ever. :-)))

The story with-in a story was too confusing for my 3 1/2 year ol

The story with-in a story was too confusing for my 3 1/2 year old. She now thinks that Dinosaurs poking her with a stick are the reason her tummy hurts.
