Preliminary Review of Pronouns and Prepositions - This book is NOT for beginners!
I just completed eight weeks of intensive language school in Florence, Italy. Pronouns and prepositions are each used extensively in Italian. They are more complex than in English and are very difficult to master. Therefore, I was anxious to buy this workbook. I have completed only 40 pages of 186, but felt compelled to write this review. This workbook is NOT for beginners. Fortunately, I am not a beginner. This subject is not for beginners. Unlike Complete Italian Grammar (also McGraw Hill) by Marcel Danesi, which is very well written, Italian Pronouns and Prepositions is not as well written. In only 40 pages, I found too many typographical errors and unclear instructions. Some of the verbs used in the first 40 pages were not even in my dictionary. This is the first time in over 18 months of use that a verb was not in my dictionary. I could go on about the flaws in this book, but I will not. I will complete the workbook because I have never come across another book with so many pages dedicated to pronouns and prepositions. I spent hours in Florence at a famous international bookstore looking for a book like this, but could not find one. My advice to the author is to work with someone like Marcel Danesi to improve the ease of reading. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
