    Just As I Am

Just As I Am is among my favorite novels. It's one of those extremely rare well written novels depecting the black gay male. Harris shares the side that our general society doesn't understand. The black community often thinks of homosexualty as something that's always brought about to the extreme. Harris shows that you can't always go off the stereotypes. It's very important that we recognize this instead of judging from the beginning. All black gay men aren't flamming faggots!

    Better understanding

As I stayed up until 3a.m. & missed bus stops I realized I had no choice but to give Harris my vote as one of today's best authors. Just as I am gave me a better understanding of 'the Life' and the people in it.So many of 'us' are so quick to judge gay people. It's hard just living life in general but to live it always behind a blanket or as they say in the closet. I know my views on gays have changed. Not that I was a basher (verbally or phyically) I now have a better understanding. Althought I thought the books were all related , I still plan to read them all.Keep up the good work . I can't wait until the next one.(P.S. Kyle really captured my heart.I had a friend by the same name who lived the life.)
