MAKING LEARNING FUN
Many, especially teachers, are probably familiar with Ready-to-Read books from Simon and Schuster. A favorite among these helpful, colorful, kid-friendly books is the Trucktown series by Jon Scieszka. It's always a coup when a youngsters can simultaneously learn and have fun, which is precisely what this series provides. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. As you may know, the series is offered on three levels, determined primarily by vocabulary. KAT'S MYSTERY GIFT is Level 1, Starting to Read, which is one step above the initial level, Recognizing Words. In this story Kat has a gift "The gift is red. And square. And a mystery."
Young readers will meet favorite characters such as Gabby, Rosie, Pete, Lucy, and Pat. Each is pictured in bright eye-popping colors, and eager to learn what's inside Kat's gift. All try to guess what it might be. A giant teddy bear? A rocket? A castle?
They plead with Kat to open his gift, but he has other ideas. Youngsters will enjoy discovering their ability to read this book, and hopefully motivated to read more.
