Loved the conclusion to Hero but definitely wished it was a bit longer because it left an open storyline for what happens with cartel and Calvin and Cat's future together.

Do yourself a favor and do not read this unless you have read and loved Hero.  This novella is really meant as a gift to readers who wanted to know what happened after breakfast. Because of that, this review will inevitably contain spoilers to Hero.

Hero ended in the perfect spot, but I was sttill left wanting more.  I was so glad when I heard Leighton was releasing this novella.  I just wanted to know where they went from there.  Calvin and Cataline were clearly not in a place where they could have a simple HEA with a white picket fence, 2.5 kids and a mini van.  Their relationship not only started in a really dark way all those years ago before Cataline even new Calvin existed, but it got even darker as lines between protector/captor/lover/friend were all blurred together.

As Calvin and Cataline try to define who they are apart and who they are as a couple, we get to see more of the emotional impact their pasts have had on who they are in the present.  Calvin also has to figure out if he and Hero are in fact two people or if he is both and what that says about him.  OK, without ruining the whole plot for you, I will say I am very glad I read this because I feel like I have a better understanding of who they are now both together and apart.  I did a happy dance when I realized there is enough open at the end for there to be a sequel to the series.  I am really hoping Leighton has decided to go that route.
