    “Crusts, Clues and Crimes”

We travel back to Timber Ridge, North Carolina and find sisters, Eleanor Swift and Maddy Spencer hard at work in their charming pizzeria, “A Slice of Delight”. All tasks are interrupted when an old nemesis, “Laughing Luigi,” (Real name: George Vincent) the frozen pizza magnate strolls in and extends an invitation to be a participant in a pizza-making contest featuring his frozen dough with a luscious $25,000.00 first prize. The thoughts of what could be done in an upgrade at “The Slice” bedazzles Eleanor but her lofty thoughts soon come down to earth when she remembers Luigi’s previous underhanded tactics. Before Eleanor agrees to participate or signs the contract, Maddy has fiancé’/lawyer Bob Lemon check it out for loopholes. All is agreed to and signed, with the newest resort, “Tree-Line” as the posh venue with accommodations for all participants and contest coordinators. Thanks to an old friendship, Eleanor and Maddy receive star treatment by Gina and the contest begins with Laughing Luigi judging the first round’s pizzas all by himself. This does not sit right with the majority of the contestants but when it’s time for the second round of the contest, Luigi is no where to be found—that is until his lifeless body is found in the contestants’ green room with a slice of pizza shoved down his throat! Pompous Laughing Luigi wasn’t a well-liked fellow—but who has such hatred or distrust to kill him? Eleanor and Maddy’s names are on the list, but after an interrogation by Police Chief Kevin Hurley,
It is found they have airtight alibis and are asked, knowing they have previous experience, to do some careful sleuthing. The contest continues and so does the “Nosing around”. Could it have been Luigi’s often insulted and belittled Brother, Frank? Or maybe Luigi’s second in command, Jack Acre, hoping to run the empire. Any of the competing duos would have access to the green room, but what would be the motive? And who finally wins the big cash prize? Or don’t they? You’ll love the twists and turns this crusty tale of intrigue takes as well as Maddy’s acerbic wit and Eleanor’s hound dog nature. Make sure you make room on your bookshelf for this light and lively cozy. You won’t be disappointed and will have you looking for a second helping! Nancy Narma
