Killer Secrets follows Eve, a spunky small town reporter who finds herself in the middle of a murder-in-progress. She gets away but knows someone saw her. So who does she run to? Hunky rancher Macklin Quinn. . Between being run off the road to having her car blown up, Eve is placed in lots of danger in a short period of time. I liked that she still wouldn't give up on following the case. It's a novella so the mystery isn't overly complicated but there's enough meat to keep you involved and wondering who's behind it all. . Plus the chemistry is great between the characters. There's a scene where Eve asks Mac to put a shirt on. He thinks it's because his scars bother her. It's not. It's because she can't "concentrate" when he's half naked. I loved that! . This book was more of a sensual romance, not explicit. But if you like things even hotter, try her Ellora's Cave book "Dangerous Deception". I adored that one too. It was a great suspense with smoking hot sex scenes :)

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Journalist Eve Newman stumbles across the murder of a prominent member of her west Texas town and finds herself the target of a shadowy killer. When the body goes missing and the police don’t believe she saw it happen, she turns to the only man in town she can trust; her deceased brother’s best friend.

Former Marine, Macklin Quinn, has been half in love with Eve since they were kids, but he’s always considered her off-limits. When she turns to him for help he can’t send her away. Within twenty-four hours it’s clear she’s in trouble and someone wants her dead. Mac will do everything in his power to keep the feisty journalist alive and help her bring down the killer. And if they can stay alive long enough, he’ll do whatever it takes to convince her they’re meant to be together.

REVIEW:
This book held my attention – but unfortunately it was held by the romantic aspect alone. The plot, while interesting, seemed a bit excessive. I think it is a good read, but I’d be happy at seeing something a little more believable.

The characters Eva and Mack were lovely to see and I wish there could have been more of them. I liked the background Ms. Reus gave to them and found myself wishing they’d get together as well.

The writing seemed to have extra words, some of which could have been taken out and made the story stronger. I do look forward to watching Ms. Reus grow as a writer and can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.

3 out of 5 stars for a nice, quick read.
