I loved this book and recommend it for all ages. It is not at all technical, just a love story of a different kind. I have known Dr. Sheri Speede, the author, for over two decades The organization I run helps overseas projects, including the Limbe Wildlife Center in Cameroon. It was there that Sheri met three chimpanzees housed alone in miserable conditions. Sheri had a dream. One day she would rescue them from their miserable plight which meant moving them to a semi-natural habitat. As her passion for chimpanzees grew, she met more chimpanzees in distress. That's how the Sanaga Yong Sanctuary came to be. And it grew and grew. Eventually over 70 chimpanzees reached the sanctuary. The book tells about the personalities of the individual chimpanzees and the people who care for and about them. The author faced tough times. One gets strange diseases in Cameroon. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
Sheri did. But the love she received from and gave to the chimpanzees shows you a true heroine. Don't miss this book! You'll laugh and you'll cry and you won't be able to put it down. Shirley
