Magic is a respected force in an alternate American frontier. Alfreda Sorensson has great talent for magic, and has been studying with her aunt, learning the ways of herb-lore and healing. Alfreda learns to deliver children and break curses, and because it is part of her training, she learns to summon Death himself.
But not all practitioners serve their communities. Some abuse their powers to build petty kingdoms of power, and even pervert the normal ways of nature. People who will want to subvert Alfreda’s powers for their own.

Kindred Rites continues the story of Alfreda Sorensson begun in Night Calls, both engrossing reads that consumed a weekend and left me in awe of the awesome storytelling displayed.

Wonderful Read. This book is as delightfully written as the first one Night Calls by Katharine Eliska Kimbriel. She returns us to the American frontier and shares with us a cleverly crafted story that draws you in and keeps you enthralled.
