A Typical Religious Formula Plot Book

I read the first book, The Pawn, because it was set in Asheville, where I live. It was an ok read, but the author got most everything wrong about our city. Still, it was nice to read about streets you recognized. Having read the Pawn I decided to give this one a try. The characters seem worn out by his third novel. The step daughter is more whiney, needy and annoying than ever. And he fills the book with his personal religious views, including anti abortion rants. With a formula plot, shallow characters and religious rants this book could have easily come from Zondervan or Thomas Nelson. Bottom line, if you are a closed minded right wing evangelical you'll probably love it. But if you don't care to have an author's personal religious views crammed down your throat then you should probably move on to something else.
