Knockout:Interviews with Doctors who are Curing Cancer--And how to Prevent Getting It in the First Place, by Suzanne Somers, is a must-read.

The book begins with a foreword by Dr. Julian Whitaker who challenges the very paradigm of curing cancer--that is, of removing or destroying it--with surgery, radiation or chemotherapy, Instead, she writes, the challenge to curing cancer lies in stopping the cells from dividing; do that and the cancer disappears.

Somers relates her harrowing story of her gross misdiagnosis that occurred in November 2008. She woke up covered in hives and was rushed to the hospital. She was told that she had cancer throughout her body. The hellishness of the experience prompted this book, because Somers explains that if she--a health advocate, best-selling author and famous person could get so mistreated, it can certainly happen to anyone.

Shockingly, the medical community has made little strides in curing cancer in 60 years, and it will soon be the second leading cause of death in our country.

The purpose of this book is to educate us on the alternatives to the traditional treatment of cancer--surgery, radiation and chemotherapy, and to prevent cancer from happening in the first place. As a cancer survivor, this is a topic close to Somers' heart.

There are chapters on the sad state of Western medicine, and how most of us poison ourselves daily--with drugs, chemicals in our food and more.

The crux of the book are the interviews with alternative doctors. They are divided into two sections--doctors curing cancer and on preventing it in the first place.

Some examples from the interviews:

* One doctor interviewed said that mamograms increase the risk of breast cancer.

* Sugar and artificial sweeteners feed cancer and help it spread.

* Tumeric is one of the most powerful cancer inhibitors. (One note on tumeric--several years ago, I read that there is a significantly low incidence of Alzheimer's Disease in India. Studies proved it was due to the high consumption of tumeric. Lately, I read that tumeric is great in preventing inflammation, increases memory, and a whole bunch of other fantastic qualities. You can buy it in capsule form if you don't eat much of it.)

The final chapter is advice for those who do choose traditional treatment to combat cancer.

The resources include integrative health practitioners listed by state.

I appreciate that Somers interviews a variety of doctors to get all kinds of advice. For those suffering from cancer and for those hoping to prevent it, this book provides solid alternative choices to traditional therapies that don't seem to be working.

This book provides hope. Highly recommend.

If I could get my money back, I would. Ms. Somers is full of hot air. I don't know which is worse - that she honestly believes the claims she makes, or that she's conning us into buying this. The two biggest contradictions and illogical claims are: 1. That she "cured herself" of breast cancer." Yet, on page 134, she references..."after surgery and radiation." Then, she boldly and self-righteously proclaims on page 13, " I would NEVER take steroids." while talking up her use of cortisol -- which is a steroid hormone!! Every doctor referenced stresses the importance of nutrition - PERIOD! End of statement. That is the only truth in this pseudo-book, and one not worth the cost, and the insult to one's intelligence to read all of Ms. Somers' stupid claims. This is SNAKE OIL, dressed up with Hollywood glitz. Don't fall for it, and throw your money out the window, like I did!

    I Also Recommend:

Do you want to be Cured? Then learn from it

Do you want to be Cured? Then learn from it. Knowledge is the understanding of truth. Facts are there is a world that does not want people to know what is in this book and others that can heal. Understanding the truth will help with that. In cancer I believe many come to learn there are foundational principles to truth. Sad but sometimes it takes the focus that reading and praying will help one find. Anything can be overcome. Recommend "The Gerson Therapy: The Amazing Nutritional Program for Cancer and Other Illnesses".

    Just purchased this book today

I went for a stress echocardiogram test yesterday and the technician recommended I purchase this book. After being misdiagnosed a month ago from doctors saying I had lymphoma and numerous tests and biopsies, CT scan, blood work, pulmonary tests, etc, their diagnosis as of today is Sarcoidosis. Well, I was relieved it was not cancer but not totally convinced it is Sarcoid either. After two day's of prednisone (treatment for Sarcoid) and a severe adverse reaction to it I am not on my second week of Methrotexate which is a nasty drug to take. Going to the lung doctor this morning for my results of the pulmonary tests and more blood work I will be discussing weening off this drug due to to side effects, etc. The moral to my story is you have to be your own advocate of you medical condition and do research (internet, etc, even though my doctor told me to stop reading about my condition on the internet!!) I became concerned when he entered the room with his medical book and read about Sarcoid from the book to me.... obviously he was unfamiliar with this condition. I am looking forward to reading Suzannes book and will comment later. I am jumping ahead and rating it a 5.

    Thank you Suzanne!

I LOVE THIS BOOK! Everyone should read Knockout and then make their own decisions on how to handle either the decisions that must be made if you are diagnosed with a health issue or if you want to maintain your good health, live a healthy lifestyle or reduce your risks of becoming ill.
Suzanne has done an excellent job bringing an alternative approach to our attention. Again, thank you Suzanne!

Informative Introduction to Alternative Cancer Treatment and Prevention

After having done much research on alternative treatments for cancer, I found this book to be a good addition to, and reinforcement for, that library of information. I liked her method of interviewing experts in the field, but found that sometimes the respondents' answers to her questions did not flow well. It may be because she didn't include the complete answers in the book. This sometimes resulted in some awkward answers.

Some of the suggestions for prevention could be very expensive and time-consuming. But then, for those with a high risk of cancer, the options may be worth it. Being about cancer, it's very serious material, but amazingly easy to read--not overly technical.

    Very Needed Information

This information needs to be available to everyone! It's important to know that there are other cancer treatments out there that are effective and often even more effective than the standard treatments of chemotherapy and radiation. There is also other information included that is helpful even if you are not battling cancer - information on nutrition and preventing illness. The doctors that are interviewed are courageous just for bucking the giant cancer industry to find other, more sensible approaches to treating cancer. This is a must read for anyone battling cancer and also a great read for anyone interested in preventative medicine. We need more books like this to help educate the public on alternatives to the traditional cancer treatments.

    Knockout will open your eyes!

I have never read a book that has answered questions that I have thought true for many years. I tip my hat to Suzanne for writing t and giving names and places we all can go if we so choose this type treatment. I think this should be part of standard operating proedures availble to "ALL" that wish to take this road
