Oh Wow. I’ve been waiting for a book to enjoy & I’ve finally found it. There is just something about how Ms. Venetta writes that pulls me in.
What I liked: I absolutely loved Nick! Delaney, well, not so much. There was just something about her that irked me in the beginning. She seemed so mean and rude – of course, I forgave the bad impression when I got to know her better.
I really enjoyed the fun of this book. There was a bit of steam & intensity but nothing a teen couldn’t handle. It really was a bit suspense, a bit romance, and a bit western — but completely a perfect mix!
What I didn’t like: Sorry, nothing!

This is a free, 240 page romance, with a touch of suspence and mystery. It is book one of five. The other four cost $2.99 each. There is more violence in this book then I expected. But it was more fisticuffs than anything else. There was some non- descriptive sex. No cursing or religion. The editing was about 80% correct. While I enjoyed this book, I did not like any of the characters.....well, Delaney's horse was likable. The daughter, Felicity, was a timid rabbit, lost in her own little world where everyone doted on her, pampered and spoiled, she seemed to have problems with anything which upset her. She seemed to spend all her time crying, shaking, turning to others to solve her problems, or just playing her flute. And she was the best of the bunch. These people bugged me. There is an open plot, so the reader will purchase the next book. This is chick lit, It was a fast read. It followed the outline of most romances, although the setting, plot points and protaginests were a bit different then the run of mill types. Many of these reviews were plot spoilers, so I will not say anything else. This book was entertaing. I would recommend for ages 16 and up.

My daughter recommended this book to me. I was hooked from the beginning. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. The main character, Delaney, is a strong woman with a mind of her own who is determined to protect the property that has been in her family for generations. I was troubled by the way she treats her uncle, especially since she wants him to sign the family property over to her daughter as he promised his dying sister he would do. But Delaney’s daughter has a wonderful relationship with her great uncle. Also, Delaney is very clear that while she finds her uncle difficult, he is family and she does love and care for him.

Delaney’s uncle, the owner of the family property, is slowly dying. He promised his sister, Delaney’s mother, that he would give the family property to Delaney and her daughter. He refuses to sign the necessary paperwork and instead threatens to leave it to a neighbor. The neighbor, Clem, is low-life who was kicked out by his own family and is trying to con Delaney’s uncle out of the property by turning him against his family. Also interested in the property is hotel developer Nick Harris. To complicate things further, Delaney discovers that Clem has made a discovering on the property that could increase its value even more.
Disclosure: I received this book as part of a Goodreads giveaway on the premise that I would review it.

A dispute over land and inheritance take center stage in this book as a family battles over long held grudges and issues as the eldest Ladd decides who should inherit his property.  I loved that a book with such heritage took place in the South and with a dispute over land.  With many extended family members, I had to diagram this family out, so I didn't miss all of the connections between them all.

    Money in them thar hills!

A Tennesse setting with a western style romance novel. Mother love and family drama create excitement and danger. Unbelievable for the most part, but fun to read. Beware the cornbread recipe. Real southern cooks will raise an eyebrow at that one.

    Love a good series

Great book 1- can't wait to get the rest in the series. Charecters are well developed, plot thickens as you go along. Enjoyable read.
