4.5 stars. This is one story that improves as you progress through to the end. I didn't care of Deirdre at in through over half of the book plus the beginning was drawn out. But oh, how it improves and the ending (battle) was so vividly written, I felt I should have a sword to help defend. The secondary character's are so richly written too. There is lovemaking, that happens (finally) within marriage. Pagan has the patience of a saint! I am not going into the storyline as others have explained it, but this is a unique storyline. I have my suspicions as to who the Shadow is, so will be completing the series so I can be sure, plus the next story seems to has to be filled with fire and brimstone, since it deals with sister number 2 and Colin. I read the Shipwreck first, which is the prequel to the sister's stories. As of now this book is free, and worth your time because of the last 1/3 of the book is amazing. (ljb)

    Well written

Well written but extremely slow and frustrating, the heroine is cruel to her husband, which makes very annoying to keep reading. If the other 2 are the same, I doubtly spend the money. It's no fun to be frustrated while you do something you enjoy as much as reading.

    Shrug

The leading lady is a bit of a jerk. I'm all for strong women, but she was something else. However the story is pretty great.
