Strong female lead character, loved it.

Rare to find a book from these times where the female is a strong heroin. I enjoyed it.

I found this story to be an okay read. It is the first in a series of three but I think I will stop with the first. I use to devourer this type of story but my tastes have changed. If you enjoy story set in Scotland, using scenarios that are farfetched and a little dragged out you should enjoy this story.

4.5 stars. This is one story that improves as you progress through to the end. I didn't care of Deirdre at in through over half of the book plus the beginning was drawn out. But oh, how it improves and the ending (battle) was so vividly written, I felt I should have a sword to help defend. The secondary character's are so richly written too. There is lovemaking, that happens (finally) within marriage. Pagan has the patience of a saint! I am not going into the storyline as others have explained it, but this is a unique storyline. I have my suspicions as to who the Shadow is, so will be completing the series so I can be sure, plus the next story seems to has to be filled with fire and brimstone, since it deals with sister number 2 and Colin. I read the Shipwreck first, which is the prequel to the sister's stories. As of now this book is free, and worth your time because of the last 1/3 of the book is amazing. (ljb)

A  fantasy or perhaps might have been real in the day of knights

A  fantasy or perhaps might have been real in the day of knights  and  lords and ladies.  A story revolving around  the Castle at Rivenloch
that is protected only by the Warrior Maids of Rivenloch.  All was peaceful and happy until Deirdre asked for help from the King.   Three
sisters (2 warriors) and an aging Lord are surprised to find that the King has sent a Steward .  I enjoyed the story because as a woman
I recognize that unexpected changes can be hard even if they may be good for me.  There is a marriage, a rivalry, and psychological
    manuvering .
